Another observation which may mean nothing but isn't the d11_ in the config file name indicate DOCSIS 1.1?

That is information on the modem not the service the modem is using.

I torrented fine. Got 2M/s down and sustained 560 K/s upstream. Just encrypt your traffic :P
What about after the download is finished? O and pics 4 proof.

Wasn't there cable modems recently released for D3? Why is CC still using old modems from D2?

Edit: 2mbps down isn't near 50mbps, is it?

Cabletool, don't you have inside info about D3 coming to Chicago, or know someone on the inside..? Or you just afraid to post anything about that..

I think he meant 2MegaBytes/sec, which is 16Megabits/sec. That is still not close to 50megabits/sec, but that's still pretty fast for a torrent. I can max out my 8megabit/sec line if I get fast enough peers/seeds. The trick, like he said, is to encrypt your traffic and it seems to go right through the traffic shaping Comcast has in place.

The upload (560K/s) should be in Bytes, which would put him at 4.3Megabits/sec upload, and that's close to the 5Megabit/sec limit they have in place right now.

Comcast only limits your upload speed, they don't rate limit your download on torrents.

While you are right, the point I was making is that because he has the upload set to 560KBytes/sec, that means he is almost using the full 640KBytes/sec that Comcast is giving him. So, basically they are not slowing his connection based on he is using encrypted traffic. If he were to unencrypt his traffic I could see where he would get slow speeds. But that just shows the torrents work just as good as on any other Comcast connection. I just wish they would start rolling onto other markets...

I still find Comcast to rate limit the upload on torrents..quit bittorrent and reopen it (after the download is finished) and try to seed again..the upload speed turns into crap.

Yes. Indeed.

And that means the modem is *capable* of registering at up to a 2.0 registration.

This is what I have so far, I got snmp working with my router earlier this morning and have been monitoring it consistently since.

This xincom only has a 166mhz risc processor.. I will be building a BSD routing PC (I run the pc it'll be up on all day anyway ). Hopefully I get improved results.

Also, from what I hear the hardware can be patched to 3. Not sure on that one, though.

what ive learned is d11 means docsis1.1, however since this is a special market rollout thing the code in the bootfile could be different then normal d11 bootfiles.
