Chilliwack, BC | the first thing I would do is get the motorola modem. I noticed a great differnece one i changed mine. Shaw is trying to slowly get rid of the terayons anyway, so they will just exchange it for you, even if you own the modem. |

So while it is probably replacing that Terayon modem anyway, the modem doesn't seem to be his immediate problem.
jbcalg: If you copy a file within the LAN (say from your friend's machine directly to yours), what kind of speeds do you get there? |

Chilliwack, BC | Here in chilliwack they were having some issues the other day with the network down, and some bad routing which made sites load slowly if at all. |

the point is to test the slow machine, either at his friend's or at home to see whether the PC needs tweaking
