| All of a sudden can't access email over SSL?!
Hey guys,
Just curious - I have the Actiontec MI424-WR router with FiOS on a 30/15 connection. I have had the same email settings for a little over a year, using IMAP on 4 computers and one phone.
At about 6:00 AM PST this morning, all those devices stopped connecting to pull in email, instead erroring out saying they can't access the SSL server. I have been bothering my host about this all day, telling them they need to fix it.
Then I leave the house, and as soon as my phone is out of reach of the WiFi signal, it switches to the cell signal, and pulls in a ton of email. I figured the issue was fixed, but when I got back home, the phone connected to WiFi, and is giving the same error.
So it seems that only when on my home FiOS network do I time out when trying to pull down email. I connected to a neighbors weak wifi signal, who I know has Comcast, and it worked with that as well.
Did Verizon just start clocking port 993 or something?? ANy other ideas? Ive already rebooted the router twice. |

I have had similar problems twice in the past year or so. Once, my hosting company reset their mail server and that cleared the problem. The other time, the problem went away on it's own. |

| reply to drusoicy Ask your host if they're running anything like denyhosts that may be blocking your ip.
Renew and release your DHCP lease to get a new ip address and see if that fixes it. -- Mac Chatter »www.macchatter.net |
