Being Fiber fed doesn't really mean a whole lot. There are lots of older "fiber fed" DS3 terminals out there so even while the physical media is capable of carrying many 10's of gigabits per second, it is only carrying 45 megabits per second Mostly it comes down to what transport gear is being used.
Yes,this is apparently my problem more than anything going to 6m on ADSL 1. I have been told our equipment won't do ADSL2. I have been told they won't do 6m but I don't think that is accurate. I know I am feed with the same fiber that feeds other towns in the Florida loop that have 6m. I have even been quoted the 40 some customers on our remote are feed with 4 T1s, which is totally impossible. Last summer I was told we lost 2 of the 4 DS3 to T1 converters that were between the fiber and our DSLAM.

So combined with WSEngineers comments and adding a whole big dose of guessing. I would say my real restriction is my DSLAM while feed of enough fiber to feed Miami is only decoded for my remotes use through 4 DS3 to T1 converters. Now consider that when the 2 DS3 converters were lost last summer that it was more than my remote that suffered. So again a HUGE dose of guess work, all of my town (CO and 4 major remotes) is feed with 4 DS3 circuits ????

Is that enough to feed probably 150 customers? Probably being that would be about 112 or so T1 lines.

I guess then I can really throw caution to the wind and extrapolate that it took months to replace the failed DS3 converters after a lightning strike, that adding more to give us more bandwidth, minus the money spent in urban areas, I update my 6 m upgrade to 2016 and ADSL to never.

Obama, if you are listening I am bitter! LOL :@)

Most likely you are hanging off of a DSLAM that is fed via IMA T1's and is probably only capable of being IMA fed. Even though you have DS3 transport to the area, it sounds like they are grooming T1's out of the DS3 to feed your DSLAM.

Yeah, I am pretty sure that is how I am hooked up. It's not the fiber bandwidth and it's not the DSLAM that is limiting me, but the equipment rack between them. Lovely.

Come on 2015, cause I want my ADSL2

But until everyone else is upgraded or Comcast buys the local Podunk Cable service, and judging when I got DSL at all compared to the network, I am very very very near the end of the upgrade line. I figured a year ago that a good part of the network would be ADSL2 long before (years) I would have the option of any kind of speed upgrade.

After all my DSLAM is less than 2 years old and probably 3 to 7 years away from being amortized on WS tax returns.

I keep pushing the cable company to upgrade to internet service, not that I want it from them, but it will raise the importance of my area to WS ten fold or more.

Thanks for the input WSE.
