My plan is to cancel Dish AFTER I've got DirecTV installed. I'd rather pay for overlapping service than risk not having service.
Well 5 years ago did it the other way around...called up DTV to cancel... and all of a sudden after many calls, they were very APPOLOGETIC AND WHAT CAN WE DO (even offering free equipment they wouldn't before)....

And my response was why weren't you like this WEEKS, and for WEEKS ago... at which point the CSR got the clue... DISH is the installing at the moment aren't they... and I said YUP sorry you were all such hard nosed morons for so long to make me do this... was without TV for maybe an hour tops in the late afternmoon when all there is to watch is nausiating talk? moron/divorce court and Dr Phil of himself type BS.

Plus I was beyond my commitment so no loss... just sianora suckas. (I guess at the time...2000/1?... they thought they were both just fighting cable not each other)

And at the time DISH was offering top 100 (now 200+ with the addition of Serius radio) for $10/mo for a YEAR, though with a bought DVR... the savings more than made up for cost of and is still DVR fee free to this day, and according to Charlie will be till it dies or SD service totally goes away or also goes to MPEG4, like HD did.

I had that as well when we moved and switched to DISH. After a week and to this day I get letters from DTV saying we want you back and all the deals they want to give me. On a limited time of course. I stayed with DISH because of the dual tuner receivers that save me $5 per additional TV. I will stay with DISH until U-Verse comes and I see what they have to offer price wise. All providers carry the channels I am interested in so price is what makes my dissension. I never had a service issue with either DTV or DISH.
