| [Help Me] Cannot connect to microsoft.com throughDIR-655
Hello everyone,
I have a very strange problem with a DIR-655 I just bought. The 655 is running firmware 1.11 on A3 hardware.
Everything works fine except I cannot connect to certain websites, including microsoft.com, msn.com and Yahoo Mail (although the Yahoo home page connects).
These problems only happen if the 655 is connected direct to the DSL modem. The problems happen with both wired and wieless connected PCs. The 655 is configured to use PPPoE and never drops the connection. I have not touyched any other factory default settings (yet).
If I put the 655 on the LAN side of the Linksys WRV54G its supposed to replace then I can connect through it to the above sites with no problem.
I saw a post on MaximumPC with the same problem but no resoilution was posted.
Any idea what the problem could be?

Sounds more like a DNS issue to me. I also have a DIR-655 running firmware 1.11 and have no problem getting to those sites and my MTU is set at the default 1492. Try manually setting your DNS servers to 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 and see if that resolves your issue. |
