There is AT&T, and then there is AT&T. Apparently, HP gets transit from AT&T Worldnet Services (ATTW). This is one of the few sites I see where I go through ATTW transit to the destination:
I can reach other destinations without going through ATTW transit:
And...
And...
And...
And...
The fact that my traces always start on AT&T Internet Services (ATTIS) transit is not related to seeing ATTW transit later in the trace.
