Laptop must connect to other router and then mine to work.

Odd situation has been occurring.

My laptop automatically connects to my wireless network. The connection signal strength is "excellent". But the internet does not work.

If I then connect to someone else's wireless network, wait 30 seconds, and then reconnect to mine my internet works fine.

I have a hardwired computer connected to my router that has no problems, and I connect to my wireless internet all the time from my iphone and that has no problems. In the past this laptop has connected to my network and the internet works with no problems. I don't know of any changes made.

Any ideas? Thanks.

comcast internet
dell inspiron 6000 using
Intel PROset/Wireless software

Unless you are running encryption (WEP or WPA), it sounds like you have a new neighbor with the same SSID as you.

Try PC Tools Firewall Plus (freeware) works better than anything else available. Plus it's 100% free. »www.pctools.com/firewall/ Registration is also free. Works on all versions of Windows including server. I only recommending this since I use it on all my systems here including wireless and server. Don't have any issues with it for for almost 1 year now.
