With DTV it comes in pixelated (black bits and pieces missing) and the audio will break up because the digital convertor isn't receiving all of the data.
reply to Jwobot One thing you will not see on a satellite system during rain fade is a flashing picture. In the case of DTV signal fade causes pixelation and in some cases a freezing and flashing picture. These problems were observed during early tests of the ATSC System.
Please go to this website, it explains the converter box program. It also lists various converter boxes and the features that they offer. Enjoy. »www.dtv2009.gov/
Do you still get a picture with a Digital signal when you are far away from the broadcasting tower.
Several stations that I can hardly get in analog (very fuzzy at best) come in great on digital, just with occasional momentary dropouts. I'll take the one second of no picture every few minutes over the almost no picture and almost no sound.
Thanks to the error correction built in, you really only need to receive about 80% of the bits being sent for your receiver to reconstruct the whole stream. -- It's wierdo, not weirdo. Yes, I know that's not the 'proper' spelling of the similar english language word.
