To prevent problems later on (due to deteriorating connections) it is recommended that you use gel-filled moisture resistant splices .

Thanks to all who helped me. I was able to open up the phone company side of my box and unhook the MTU. I then used jumper wire from the posts on the AT&T side over to the customer side and into the module.
It was a bear getting the AT&T side of the box open but a small screwdriver and some needle nose pliers worked just fine.I am back up and working with no ADSL outages when using the phone. I just unhooked the module so I did not have to splice anything.

So what was the MTU for anyway?
