| [Info] This is Too Cool....
First time poster here but I have been reading ghostpainter's and Kevin's forecasts in the SoCal forum for years.
I am a member of the wunderground site and I have a PWS installed at my house in Simi Valley, Ca. It is a LaCrosse WS2310 and I use the software WUHU21023XXSP provided by wunderground to upload the data to the site.
Now for the cool part....
I received this through the site mail a couple of days ago:
Dear Sir or Madam,
After evaluating several Simi Valley sites, a number of forecasters in the National Weather Service (NWS) office of Los Angeles, determined that your location would best represent Simi Valley on the media product we issue three times a day from our NWS office in Oxnard, CA. The product is the Regional Temperature and Precipitation (RTP) product. See link below
»www.weather.gov/climate/getclima···?wfo=lox
As of May 1st, 2008 we are using your data.
I would like to request some further information, at your first opportunity. Id also like for us to arrange a visit out to your site, as I will need to keep on file exposures, location, lat/lon and elevation. This information is confidential and will only be kept in my files within the NWS office.
Your name direct e-mail address Phone number and address
If you have any questions... don't hesitate to call or send me an e-mail.
Sincerely, XXXXXXXXXXXX Surface Observing Program Manager Department of Commerce (DOC) National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS) 520 North Elevar Street Oxnard CA 93030 805-988-6627
It is so great to be the station that the NWS looks to for weather data for Simi Valley. I guess I'll have to pay more attention now!
By the way does "media product" mean the info that goes out to the TV stations everyday?

| reply to djm61 Congratulations....Whats really neat is when forecasters like Carl Bell and Dr Fishbeck would call and ask for updates because of changing conditions in storms over my area.
And to have your information shared with open media, means that AccuWeather, Weather.com and the NWS are all checking on your site.
