Just another off topic rant

Split from this thread ---> »Help with Comcast internet inside!!!

Ok, let's be frank: your modem was not rented from Comcast, nor is it a private purchase. Your modem was a hand-me-down from someone else, or it is a lost/stolen modem.

Comcast accounts for every modem's MAC address. Yours does not meet requirements. You will have to replace your modem with a rental from Comcast or a purchase of a new modem.

If you have no account with Comcast, that is a separate issue. You cannot simply connect a modem to what appears to be a live line and hope that you gain access without an account and an acceptable modem. Call 1800comcast.

The poster has stated that they have had an account with CC "for awhile now"...

Dude, why are you assuming that their modem is either lost, stolen, or a hand me down ??

I've seen many times where a software / application glitch with the system or the modem results in a loss of provisioning.

Traditionally , responses to posters here at BBR are a bit more friendly, no ?

Agreed that the only way to correct this is with a call in to a CSR.

Easy there buddy, let's not make assumptions and there's no need to DEMAND PROOF POSTIIVE that the OP's modem is legit.

As EG already stated, a system or recent account change could've caused the modem to be stuck in walled garden.

To the OP: Turn off all your equipment and power them on starting with modem>router>PC. If that fails to resolve then make the call as suggested.
