Got my license

Hello, I am proud of being first WISP in Turkey. Estimated time to start our service is unknown, because they just shippied me papers which is about when will I start to provide internet connection.

Ps: If there is a person who wants to be rival in Turkey, don't do that. Because I am trying to get that license since the beginning of the January.

Another thing is you'll have to pay 4000YTL per year and 8000 YTL for registration fee. 1 YTL is 1 AUD(approx.)

By that way, now I had a commercial 2.4 Ghz Frequency and I have only indoor 5 Ghz. So I cannot use 5 Ghz in my customers. Wow, I am being jealous because in every country except Turkey, a person pays nothing and gets 2.4 Ghz + 5 Ghz with no indoor limit.

There are other countries as well that limit the use of 5.8 and also restrict EIRP on 2.4 Ghz pretty bad.

I also know of at least one WISP in Turkey already, maybe they don't have a license?

Hello, I am proud of being first WISP in Turkey.
You will find out that hundreds of WISPs are operating in Turkey since 2000.

Please read my comment and your response again in ( »Re: Looking for Good Backhaul ) - maybe you can now reveal your WISP's location?

I hope it is not Ankara or Istanbul or even Izmir. Those cities are overcrowded with 2.4Ghz WISP and hotspot setups.

Perhaps searching these companies might give some insight?

I noticed a few of those had wireless isp service taglines but I cannot interperet the website.

Hello, I am proud of being first WISP in Turkey.
Curiously TurboNet was presented as a "leading" WISP back in 2006 ... so there were others?

I know you will quabble with WiMax WISPs, so let's talk WiFi. There are quite a few WiFi radio assemblers in Turkey
( like »www.airties.com/ ) who supply the local WISP market and I actually corresponded with a Noyan Dede back in 2003 who supplied a few other local WISPs. See e-mail screenshot above - I guess Haziran means June?

Ubicom does much of their WISP radio firmware development in Turkey at the TUBITAK Marmara Research Center. These guys know a lot of local WISPs and hotspot operators.

PM me for more local WISP contacts if you really are serious. Also are you located in Sarpkaya city, or is your name Sarpkaya? Just curious.

Well, you don't speak Turkish but if you look at www.turbo.net.tr you'll see that they just make test of WiMax, they didn't bought any license and they cannot use Wimax for Commercial.

you may see all companys who wants to test something:

Airties is a company who sells ADSL Modems, I haven't seen their any WISP product. and they are using texas instruments that makes their wi-fi sucks.

My name is sarp kaya, and haziran means june, as you looked up in dictionary.

Note: You may share all local or whatever you know that, share'em.

Another thing is, I have a friend who makes frimware to advanced routers such as Linksys, Buffalo etc. and he makes hotspot frimware. Do you know who buys it? Just some cafes and restaurants. Those are for small places.
One more thing is, in Turkey, hotspot means, getting internet 1 meg or 2 megs ADSL and share it with no firewall, no multi-ip and no bandwidth limiter. So they are not WISP, they are buying just router, they are cafe or restaurant or whatever.

Sarpkaya, you really believe that you are the only Turkish entrepreneur who has the ability to pay $4000 fee and wait 4 months for a WISP licence? It is a rhetorical question - no need to answer - just hold on to your delusion and maybe you could become the first Turkish millionaire.
