I actually use netopia 3xxx routers so use this document, I do not know how true it is for a 2xxx router.

These documents are in the 2xxx support pages, they should work with a 2xxx router

thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, none of those shots look like my router. I did go through them but I didn't see anything different than what I'm doing. Let me quickly sum up what I'm doing, perhaps I'm missing something real simple:

i go to the DSL modem, set it to brdiged mode. That's all I do to modem.

Go to my router, set my bellsouth login information and make sure DHCP is enabled. That's all I do there.

Am I missing a step somewhere?
I should say that I'm not at all opposed to the modem handling DHCP, whatever works at this point!
