[ Equipment] Mountains, Tin roof, antennas and more.... need you

Here's my situation in as much of a nutshell as I can put it:

I am 86 and my wife and I live in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains that border the Skagit Valley in northwest Washington State, north of Seattle where there is neither cable nor DSL access. I have lived a 2 year nightmare of wasted time attempting to receive decent service from Hughes net satellite, and have finally given up on them.

I am now going to attempt to use Verizon's Broadband Access for internet and email, but need to overcome my last obstacle in that regard. I am in a trial period with their service and will be using the Wireless UM150 USB Modem on my desktop computer, and here is my dilemma:

My home is a converted doublewide trailer with a tin roof..... So I want to use some sort of external antenna up there to pick up the signal. I am willing to spend (within reason) whatever it will take to get a decent signal down to my computer.

Is there an antenna that could use the roof of my home as a "ground plane" ?
What would be the best solution for me in my situation?
Would an amplifier of some sort also help?

You people here are really my last best hope for suggestions, so any and all input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time reading this...

Any good mag mount antenna would work well in your application. Our 13 inch 5 db would work as well as any.

Thanks Max,
What are the limitations on length of cable from the roof down to my computer inside the home?
What type cable is best?

If you are going to do a long cable run . Low loss cable is best . Antenna comes with 10 feet of cable. You best solution would be our CA819 Antenna / amplifier package($199.95) . If you do have to do a long cable run the Cyfre amplifier compensates for RF loss in Cabling and connections

  Thanks again, Max Signal...

Since you are the only one responding to my questions, I am going to go to your MaximumSignal site and correspond directly...

It sounds like you have the solutions I need.
