He gladly agreed to help fix the Falcon's damaged hyperdrive while they enjoyed Cloud City's hospitality. The travelers, however, did not trust Lando entirely, especially after the disappearance of C-3PO. Not long after their arrival, Lando invited the Rebels to refreshments and led them to Darth Vader and his stormtroopers, where Han, Leia, and Chewbacca were captured. Much to Lando's chagrin, Vader considerably altered the original deal. The Dark Lord insisted that Leia and Chewbacca remain on Bespin and decided to test the carbonite-freezing chamber (normally used to prepare Tibanna gas for shipment) on Han Solo, hoping that the same apparatus could be used on Luke to transport him to the Emperor. Lando, increasingly unhappy with the arrangement, which now included the torturing of Han Solo, informed Han and Leia of their fate, telling them "I had no choice."
