Re: RELIABLE 35 mile backhaul, what do i need?

Just some FWIW....

I am looking at a path thats 34.5 or so miles with a clean fresnel using Ligowave product. With the 27dB TX power and 34.4dBi dish on one side and 31dB dish on the other I get about 21dB of fade margin. Thats not very hot if you ask me.

I think you should get about a -55dBm signal or so, which sounds like what your calcs are saying. If you don't need the full speed, you can use a lower modulation and get more fade margin. 20dB should be fine though.

Yeah recieve power is -58dB. I'm leery about having such a low fade margin though on a path like this in our mountainous terrain. I'll PM you Hal so we do not threadjack this post..
