| T-mobile and AT&T
well my mom wanted to switch to AT&T after a year contract with T-mo.. Well now after having to pay the prorated bill she was done and went on Sunday to get an AT&T number.. it worked fine for one day but now when you call her old T-mobile number it says it's not in-service now she Went to T-mobile and they said she needs to turn the service on for Them for a day in order to transfer the number??
So now she is going to get a number with AT&T instead so she can finally get rid of T-mobile. -- It's NOT Ni-kon It's NE-KON!

| The number port MUST take place before canceling service, usually porting the number will cancel the service itself. The procedure is to go to ATT, sign up, give all information for the port, wait for it to go through, then cancel TMobile. Even if she paid a pro-rated bill (i.e. paid for the months remaining on her contract) I do not know if that releases you from the contract. Since the contract goes by dates, rather than the # of months you have paid for, it is quite possible if she ported out of T-Mo before her contract was over (by-date) that she could get hit with an ETF...This is an interesting situation. -- I'm farming, are you?? |

| reply to Subaru I agree with the above. She should have gone to an AT&T store and request a port. If the number was portable, it should only take a couple of hours. After the port goes through, then call T-Mobile to cancel. Doing something that might cancel the T-Mobile service before the port could cause the number to be lost. |

| reply to Subaru Yea, the number has been active to port. It's pretty simple. My number has been ported from Nextel to Sprint, to Verizon, to the old AT&T, to Cingular, Southern Linc, and now back to Nextel. -- I get 29 MPG in my Toyota Highlander Hybrid! |

@ascendance.net | It seems like your mom doesn't like TMo very much. Do you know what happens? TMo gets good reputation for its customer service. |

Yeah she likes the customer service better with Tmo then AT&T so far but She changed because of some of her friends that are on AT&T as well.. but I think it would of been cheaper with a my favs plan? as her bill is going to be $74 a month with I think its the 450 min plan. -- It's NOT Ni-kon It's NE-KON!
