| [Speed] Upgraded to Blast Tier, Can't Get the Speed
Had BLAST installed today in Brick NJ, 08724. Speed tests fly, 20-25Mbps over 2.5 upload. When using Azureus, I see downloads sitting around 1 meg only, maybe as high as 3. Upload flies at 100+ to 200 consistantly.
Any idea why the downloads are so slow? No router in the set up, no port, firewall etc issues. Everything is as it should be but download just doesnt kick into high gear. Anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? |

Also depends on if you have your ports set right.
I myself use utorrent though. -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdYueIC1pjM |

Been using Azureus for 3+ years now, no port, firewall or any other issues. Have over 700 seeders on this one file yet it takes nearly 10 minutes for it to even go over 4meg speed wise on the DL rate.\
Had Comcast here previously and could max out at 10 meg DL all day long.
So, anyone? |

| I have had BLAST! since it was rolled out here in chicago on January 10. I have had no connectivity problems, so my speeds are as follows
Download: When I first start a torrent my download soars to 3.5-4Mbps(powerboost) then throttles back down to 1.9-2.2Mbps. That is right where it is supposed to be
Upload: When I first start a torrent my upload soars to over 300KB/s(powerboost) then throttles down to 225KB/s, and that is right where the upload is supposed to be.
There is no way you will get 10MB/s download speeds....ever with comcast...not even with wideband will you get them speeds. |

| reply to K3 Sorry, I meant the following....
Previous Comcast service: Using Bit Torrent would get up to 10Mbps D/L with 1 Mbps U/L
Now, provisioned (and confirmed) with BLAST: Using Bit Torrent MAX 4Mbps, hovers around 2Mbps D/L. However, Upload can hit 2.5Mbps consistently, not in a "Boost" style.
Just wondering if the BLAST service somehow throttles Downloads for P2P users. Perhaps someone else has seen this.
All speed tests show me @ 22-25 Mbps DL / 2.2 - 2.6 Mbps UL
Sorry for the confusion. |

| I havent seen throttling with my BLAST! service. I did see the throttling though when I had the 8/768 plan but after upgrading something changed. Before my modem would reboot when I downloaded anything via bittorrent. Also make sure encryption is enabled if your using utorrent, that helps alot. I also changed my download/upload habits. I stopped using alot of bandwidth during "peak hours" which is when Sandvine is at work the most. Im sure you will get more replies though from comcast users being throttled and maybe they can help you more than I can...good luck(=D) |

| reply to CopperMux Just because you have 700 seeders..doesn't necessarily mean your going to max out your d/l speed..
If you can max out your d/l speed on a official website download then there is no problem..
(Anyone got that OOL speed test link download?) I forgot it -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdYueIC1pjM |

I forgot it I'll run the OOL test but I can assure you, with Comcast at the same home, same wiring, same PC 2 months ago, I maxed out daily. I may run 4 or 5 torrents, all with multiple seeders. There is definitely a difference. Previously they would max, ALWAYS, now nowhere near the speeds I am provisioned for.
So disregard any P2P issues or set up issues, has anyone seen BLAST act in this way? |
