anon : Well... Well.....

I have the same issue this is also my 2nd modem and mine is doing the same thing!! I am in Muskogee Oklahoma and it has been doing this for well over 2 months!!!!!!!! Sudden link will do nothing.. I have had 3 techs out here along with the so called "lead" tech that did not know anything... I am using a Motorola SB5101 (not the same as my old modem that was doing the same thing) my level's are fine and my download and upload is fine WHEN the Internet works... Mine starts around 4:30 PM to whenever it wants to stop.. The people over the phone tell me its a power issue.... I have to hang up most of the time and just call back to get someone to listen to what I'm saying and not always say it a power issue.

Also another thing I have noticed is my hops have changed... i use to get a 30 ping in Dallas and now I'm getting 80 to 100 but in a chi server I am getting around 40 and about 65 to newyork..

daveinpoway : More significant than the specific upstream power level is the fact that it was 51 dBmv at one point, and 32 dBmv at another time. If it is varying that much, something is very wrong (bad splitter, defective cable, etc.). Hard to say just what the problem is from a distance. Probably best to get a tech out there.

anon : for the last week, my (Ambit) cable modem issued to me by Suddenlink has been disconnecting. Basically the 'ready' light goes to blinking and I lose connection for 1-2 minutes. I do NOT have to reset, or unplug anything. The modem simply picks up connection again by itself, and the ready light become solid.

This happens at totally random intervals. It's been going on for a week.
