awbishop : kms, there was an outage last night in Chicago. Atleast there was in my area (Edgewater). I finally gave up after sitting on hold for about 20 minutes and when I got up this morning it was back up as if nothing happened..

Clearpix : I would not be surprised if your modem was shut off. The modem gets put into an init state where it searches for a connection but does not connect. They always hit the modem first because its easiest to turn off and makes people the least angry. They always save the phone until last and even then it usually keeps 911 capability even without the dial tone for awhile.

Cable internet not working at all

kms : An hour or so ago, my internet stopped working. I have tried power cycling the modem and router. It doesn't work. I have been on hold for around 45 mins with RCN. I am worried because today around 6 PM I got an automated call telling me that I haven't paid my RCN bill. When I called the billing department (right after I got the call) I found out they were already closed. Right now I am using someone else's wireless signal to post this, mine does not work at all. I am worried that they maybe shut off my internet because they think I missed a payment. Does that make any sense? I am confused because if they were to shut off my service due to a missed payment I would think that they would shut off all of my services, but my HD channels still work just fine.. I have never been on hold for this long, perhaps this is a bigger issue? I live in Chicago in a high rise building, but I really doubt that this is affecting my entire building. Maybe someone could help me out?
