Acanac is considering offering Usenet services.

Acanac is considering offering Usenet services. We would like your feedback on this issue. In your opinion is this a service that you would use? If so how high is it in your priority list?

Best Regards,
Paul

High Priority. If you can keep in it in the same tradition as your DSL service...Low Price, Unlimited Download...I'm in for sure.

I already use a 3rd party that doesn't cap and allows multiple connections.

I'd be extremely interested, and I'm sure that others would be as well. Thanks for asking Paul, and please let us know of the details when you can

If we do offer the service we will not implement any caps connection limitations.

This would be a sole deciding factor for going with Acanac over Teksavyyy...

When will this be rolled out?

If it's offered it will be included free of charge with All second year DSL accounts. SSL will be allowed.

First year clients it would cost $10 per month.

wiki is your friend

PS Newsgroups is the way to share files. Also visit »www.newzbin.com

Acanac, adding newsgroup access to your VPS service would be a very very good idea.

I was just wondering the status of this? Is it going to proceed or was there not enough interest?

My opinion is that this would be a great service for Acanac to add, I'm currently using a 3rd party usenet service, but if I could get Internet and Usenet from one source that's what I'd prefer.

We are still hope to offer this. We are just about to increase our Voip coverage. We need to finish this first.

how many newgroups? all of them? alt.* ?

What kind of retention? 30 days? 45 days? 90 days?

I would become a subscriber if the usenet offering was good.

It has not been decided, but it will be competitive with some of the paid services. It will be offered for free.

What kind of retention? 30 days? 45 days? 90 days? Also has not be decided, but we hope to offer it for at least 30 days.

Just to give you a time line. We are just finishing up our Voip Network upgrade. Once this is complete Newsgroups will be our next project.
