OpenSolaris:Wants to grow up and be like Ubuntu

What's OpenSolaris?

Ubuntu is currently spreading through my gaggle of desktops and laptops like a cancer. Uh, that's not very positive... like beneficial earthworms. The only thing its less then ideal at is being a server (CentOS is better there, although it would be nice if it were a little more "modern" - centos that is.)

That might be the way the article makes it sound, but the article is really rather poor. The article focused on how well OpenSolaris has managed to add desktop/single-user features to an enterprise-grade server operating system and barely touched on any of the features for why anyone would want to run OpenSolaris in the first place. But, whatever: all that a lot of people care about is "ooh, pretty!" and "What's on your desktop this month?"
