| My Challenge: Saving This Embedded Flash Video
»www.vbs.tv/video.php?id=1438428757
So as I was perusing the 56K Lookout! forum, I came across a link bizarre look into North Korea (from a Westerner's perspective). Basically, these two Web journalists got into NK as tourists and shot a series short videos (14 episodes in total).
It's so fascinating, in fact, that I wanted to save local copies of the embedded flash videos. But every single attempt has been stymied and I want to find a way to crack this nut!
Any ideas? |

Yes, I tried using Firefox in Bootcamp with several different media download-type extensions and no joy.
Real Player didn't work either.
These videos are being hosted on Brightcove.TV, which apparently is extraordinarily more difficult to "get" than those from other sources (YouTube, etc.).
I think the only way to do it is to use a screen capture app such as Snapz Pro or ScreenFlow. |

| Strange. I tried my old "standby", which is viewing the Activity Window in Safari. Usually you can double-click the biggest file and it will download. It looks like they're blocking HTTP requests. I'd use a network monitor, or the LiveHTTPHeaders extension in Firefox to find out how they're fetching those pages. Looks like a simple HTTP GET is being block. |

Found some but not all, I am sure there is another copy hosted somewhere on the net that you can extract the videos from. |

| reply to posthaste This might be a costlier solution, but Snapz Pro (with video) will record screen action. Now, it will cost you, but it is a great program worth the money just for its screen shot flexibility alone. -- 512Ke, LC, Classic, Qudra 605, Centris 610 AV,Performa 6112, PM 6500, Cube, iMac G4 17", iMac 24", PB 5300, PB 3400, PB G4, and a few PCs |
