why am I having a slowly video in any media players?

I have a P4 2.6, windows vista, 1.2GB ram, 80GB hard drive. After I formatted my hard drive and installed a fresh vista OS. And I installed some softwares such as Realtime, quicktime, windows media player. I decided to watch a cloverfield that I rented last night. I clicked expanding the windows to full widescreen and the video went slow like lag. What went wrong? I have a dell 24inch widescreen. Exucse for my lousy english grammar. Before I formatted it, it looks fine.
