The articles author stated that they ran equivalent to a P2/466 (or thereabouts, I don't remember the exact phrasing). I wasn't yet back in the Apple fold, having departed about a year before (for ~6 years). At the time I was using a P2/350, and it ran quick enough to survive an XP-Pro upgrade and remain useful until recent times.

Yeah, but it was crippled with a slowass 66mhz bus speed, shit video, etc, etc, etc... And it ran OS 8 (PUKE).

I have fond memories of OS 8 - it saw some additions to the interface that were pretty cool. I liked the drawer that you could leave tabbed on the bottom of the screen, and was surprised when I returned to Apple's camp that it wasn't included as a feature in Finder for OS X. I know it featured some Apple flops like Cyberdog and OpenDoc, but there were some cool features too.
