I am located 50 miles from Manhattan (Empire State Building transmitter) so on a good day, you get analog snow on all TV's.
No one here has roof antennas because they have to be so huge to pull in the signals so OTA is not really an option for us.

Knowing that DTV is coming, I'd find "some way" to get a drop to those elusive TV's....but that's just me.

Why are you bothering with OTA broadcasts when you now have an adapter that will bring you more channels than you could get OTA? Are you not a FiOS customer and if so, how did you manange to get the adapters? :)

No, this is what you need if you've had a TV connected directly to the coax cable to pick up the remain analog channels from Verizon. They act as QAM tuners and will also decode any encrypted SD channels you're subscribed to via coax cable.

UPS handles the freight back and forth for Verizon via a specialized corporate account.

Unless an actual Verizon Tech brings the equipment to your house, the equipment stocking and distribution is outsourced to a 3rd party.

They use CTDI for their logistics management(warehousing).

They are based out of Coatesville, PA and West Chester,PA

(That would be the Philly suburbs for people unfamiliar with the area).

Is it possible to configure it so that power and volume are for TV, and everything else is for the STB, without having to change the mode? I could leave the STB on all the time.

If you try ordering new equipment online the max amount of STB's you can get is 7. If the Actiontec is included in the amount of MoCA devices..then this brings the total to 8.

Also online, you can add up to 8 Digital Adaptors before it states that the total equipment count is 15. Again, if you add the Actiontec into the count it brings the grand total to 16.

The limit they told me was 8 MoCA devices, but they told me that they were forced to include 1-way devices such as Digital Adapters and CableCards, until the MoCA standard was revised to include the capability of 15-16 devices.

One MoCA device being the Actiontec router itself.

Something about a computer issue at their end only permitting so many devices total on the account, per ONT.

If I wanted a Second ONT installed, they could increase the limit to 16 total devices, even though CableCards and DCT700's(Digital Adapters) don't use MoCA.

It may be a market by market based limitation, or they are just too stingy to let each customer have too many TV sets connected at once. :(

After having a couple of DCT-700 with Comcast, I have to say I'm disapointed with how Verizon implements them.

The documentation that came with the DCT-700 says it has these features, but it doesn't:

:( Basic User Interface that shows channel number and clock
:( Full channel-block parental controls
:( Simple Help

Remote functions that don't work:
:( Pressing the MENU button will bring up the main menu screen.
:( You can navigate through the menus with the Arrows and OK buttons on your remote.

I asked for 2 and got them the next day (surprise, surprise! Wish the TV reward deal worked that way but that's a different rant).

Now, whether or not they will be free (without multiple calls to billing to get things straightened out) remains to be seen. My next bill is due out on 05/20.

I might also add that they activated with very little problem (via the WEB interface) - it took a little extra time, about 10 more minutes, for my added subscriptions (Movies and HBO/Cinemax) to become available after the boxes started receiving the regular FiOS Premiere channels. I did NOT have to talk to a CSR to get them functional.

No it's not. The only rent-free device Verizon is providing as part of the digital conversion is the DCT-700. If you want a set top box, you're going to have to pay for it.
