I found the pw/uid.
I can't make heads or tails of the logs. But, this modem does have voip, cable tv and internet active at the same time. Very often it just drops the connection.
There's a long list of this error:2008-05-04 12:11:16 4-Error IGMP: ERROR - Group address 0.0.0.1 is not a legal multicast
Does that have anything to do with dropped connections?
I thought I read somewhere that this modem will drop the connection if the voip is active. Is that true?
Thanks for your help. |

Nope...it is an informational error...see »Re: [KS] Random "disconnects", T-3 & multicast errors for a more detailed explanation

If by "voip" you mean Cox Digital Phone, then not at all. In fact, you want to have Digital Phone and High Speed Data on your eMTA if possible as it will eliminate the 3.5db loss from the extra split.
If by "voip" you mean an Internet based phone provider, then the answer is "maybe, but probably not"...since you have no quality of service mechanism for Internet phone as you do with Cox Digital Phone there is nothing to prevent your data packets from swamping your phone packets or vice-versa and causing drops. Since the Internet phone packets are relatively small, it is actually more likely that these would be impacted by heavy data use rather than the other way around.
Again, with Cox Digital Telephone we setup quality of service mechanisms to ensure this does not happen.
More than likely the issue you are describing is related to signal quality issues. If you want to register for this site and send me a private message with the MAC Address of your modem, I can check this for you. |

All I know for sure about voip is that it's a cox account, not an outside provider.
I've already been back and forth with cox about speeds, but I think it's just a matter of where the game servers are located.
PM on the way. |
