Looks like it was another Canadian first

Rogers tagged theirs as "overage" fees, now Comcast has it in the works.

At least Comcast has set a more reasonable cap and is charging everyone the same amount for going over (unlike Rogers let's rip off the people on the lower tiers more than the upper tiers) AND gives one freebie per year! What they're charging is still crazy high, but overall it's a better deal considering that it's in place of throttling.

Lets just put it this way. If one of the internet heavyweights servicing Ontario and Quebec offered a 250 gigabyte bandwidth cap for what they currently charge, the state of the internet in Canada would be a hell of a lot better than what it is today. And while I probably wouldn't go for it due the price increase (I like paying $30 for 200 gigabytes of transfer), it would at least be a reasonable alternative compared to the nonsense that Bell and Rogers are offering now.

At least we still have unthrottled and unlimited cable in Quebec through Electronicbox. I'm counting my blessings seeing how bad the rest of the country has it..

Like you, I am counting my blessings. But if the CRTC does nothing I can see videotron doing the same. Then Quebecers will be in the same boat.
