You'd see an image on another site, right-click it (PC) and copy image location, then paste the URL into a forum post.


This is what we call "hot linking" and we tend to discourage it. What if the other site takes the picture down or has it set up so a hot linked request puts up a different picture than what was originally linked to.

Better to just download/upload it.


Come on... whats the real reason?
The real reason is that you don't want to inadvertently post goatse instead of some HILARIOUS image macro.

You'd see an image on another site, right-click it (PC) and copy image location, then paste the URL into a forum post.

This would also save server space (and possibly bandwidth) for the site. I've used the same feature on other forum sites.
