| 'economic stimulus' check
So I got my lovely consolation prize from the IRS today. I have direct deposit so I got it sooner than the USPS can deliver it to others. But I was wondering, does anyone here actually believe that these 'rebates' will do anything for the economy? Personally, I got $600, and am counting on it paying my bills which are auto-deducted from my checking each month. In the meantime, I suppose I feel 'richer' but the more I think about it, the more I feel like I'm on some government assistance program 'one month trial' or something. I wonder how many others will actually spend the money 'stimulating the economy' as suggested by the refund's intent. -- when will these humans realize their insignifigance in the universe? |

| reply to kba4 I just got mine today by direct deposit.
$550 going to almost completely paying off my credit card.
$50 to hang on to for a little extra spending money.
Plus it's payday on Friday! -- My opinions are my own. No-one else would want them! |

I long-ago stopped taking any financial advice from the federal government. I figured that taking advice from anyone who's $9 trillion dollars in the hole would be like taking financial advice from the town drunk. |

| reply to kba4 What are the last two of your social? I'm in the middle group as well and nothing for me yet.
My last two are between 50 and 55.
I doubt I'll feel richer. The money will most likely sit in the bank as I really do not have plans to just go blow it on something nor do I need it to pay off bills. |

The irs.gov website says the same I think. I always wondered why the middle group was bigger then the first and last group.
Oh well, thanks for your reply and I'll kick back and await mine! |

Mail-ins should be here around September or October knowing how the government works!!! Look at it this way, I'll be broke by the time you get yours!!! |

| reply to kba4 said by kba4 :...does anyone here actually believe that these 'rebates' will do anything for the economy? Yes, actually. You're thinking "it's only $600." But multiply that by the millions that are receiving this. Some will save it, more will pay bills with it, but mostly people will spend it. And our economy, for better or worse, is driven by consumer spending.
So will it have an effect? Yes. Is it a permanent solution? No, nor is it meant to be. This is just a little shot in the arm.

| reply to kba4 I think I got screwed. My wife and I filed together and we only got $600.00. I was under the impression that we would get $1,200. Thank God I didn't spend it ahead of time. We are going to save half and slowly spend the other half on clothes, oil change, eating out... |
