The 4100 is a good modem. Does it work properly on your line?
The only reason to get a 4100b is to squeeze out the last little bit of performance in the chipset. If you had a speed plan that was running at the ragged edge of stability, then the 4100b would be the modem you should have.
Are you planning to upgrade to faster speeds that would barely be possible on your loop? If you aren't, then the 4100 modem is fine for you. The 4100 and 4100b would give equal performance if your loop is well within the distance qualification limits for your speed plan.
