Shipping Supplies

Alright I do some shipping so I have a UPS Account, FedEX account, and USPS. Now I noticed I can get free boxes and supplies for all their express stuff however it's more expensive to go with that method. Does anyone know any way to get free boxes from them for shipping ground?

Turn the express boxes inside out.

How? It's a cardboard box with pre stick adhesive and all that.

On one side of the box is a seam, slice it open at the seam, fold the box the other way (inside out), tape the seam, close one end, insert items, close the other end, tape the ends closed.

Just try it. I ship that way all the time, works great.

USPS just came out with some larger flat rate priority mail boxes, you may want to check them out. But yeah, you can cut them and tape them back together no problem.

You used to be able to do that, but the newer Priority Mail boxes have "PRIORITY MAIL" stamped on the outside. That trick doesn't work anymore.

On the other hand, I've often sent First Class Mail items in Priority boxes and envelopes. Haven't had one come back yet...

For smaller things, I use the free boxes from USPS (the non flat-rate boxes.)

Usually the post office only has a few. I get them about 30 at a time free from USPS.com. The only thing is it takes 4-6 weeks after you order the boxes.

The problem I'm having however is I want to ship via Ground on either FedEX or UPS but the only boxes I have from the three shipping companies are the express as thats what they give out. So will that prevent me from shipping via ground?

Yeah that used to work with USPS priority label too if you cut off the Priority Mail top... then they shadowed the adress area with Priorty mail... couldn't do that any more....

This trick catches on I am sure UPS/USPS will figure FAR cheaper to reverse even monotone print/water mark or other ID the boxes too.... how cheap can you be????

I recycle boxes... they give them you for free because you are paying priority mail (USPS... usually pennies difference for parcel post vs priority) UPS another matter but they aren't STUPID either.

IMHO, do not use anything but USPS. USPS is the most reliable, and best shipping service. Don't trust the other guys!

Too bad the tracking information is not really helpful in any way with USPS. The others have real tracking and are just fine as well.

Me too. I only use USPS when I can use the flat rate envelopes or boxes. For larger, more important things I go with UPS.

Yea, when they hyped up deliver & signaute conf back when it was first comming out they made it sould like they were gonna be on par with ups and fedex tracking. Now would be a good time to offer for like 10 cents MailTrax (i reserve the rights to that name btw) Since they allready have the handhelds for the outher services, Just think how much they would make in increased flow from wverything moving to using them. The increased flow would easyly cover the printing costs for producing a label to get stuck on the item, heck they allready have a machine read the the address then slaps on a barcode to speed up the sorting, just add a scanner upstream after that to scan the barcode to show it was processed in xyz, usa. The USPS knows alot more then they disclose about where the mail is at, every bin, flat, truck, trailer all has a barcode on it, which is how ups and fedex gets the number of scans from. Truck gomes in, scanns the barcode on the trailer, thers ur arrival scan, goes throught sorting, back on a truck, thers ur destination scan, and repeats untill its delivered and put on a truck

If i black out the express text do you think they're really going to care alls it says is FedEX in big then in small express so what if i slap a ground shipping label on it?

or if i slap some white labels over the fedex logo and ship via the USPS?

I personally buy boxes from uline.com free shipping if you order $300 worth.

I've seen others just use the fedex express boxes for fedex ground. I think if you don't ship much it's not a big deal. At the kinkos by me they even used to pack customers stuff up in those boxes for ground until they got a memmo not to so they have stopped.

I been caught by the RFID or whatever thread thats in the cardboard on priority mail boxes. I sat the box on their scale and the system detected it so i either had to send priority mail or repack in another box.

Well I have about 400 boxes from FedEX of different types so I'd rather use those.

Then just slap a ground label on it and use them, but if you do that don't expect to get many more free boxes from FedEx for a while.
