[CATV] Pixelation of channels - New York

Hello, I just moved over from Time Warner to RCN in Queens, NY last week. I have HD/DVR with Digital Plus package and 20Meg Internet. My question is I notice that I have pixelation of the picture on quite a few channels, just a sample is Food, Sci-Fi and ABC channels. A tech came out and replaced my HD/DVR box but I still had the issue. I was told by the tech that I have a direct run into my apartment so my signal should be strong. There was an outage last Wednesday so the tech stated he would have the TAP inspected today. I still have the issue tonight but before I called tech support back I was wondering if anyone could give me any insight on what could cause this or if they are experiencing the same issue. I want to be able to chat intelligently with the tech support people. I don't think its my coax because my TWC picture experience was flawless. Any insight is appreciated. Thank you!

Re: [CATV] Pixelation of channels

I have the same problem, i've had the problem ever since i got RCN a year ago and it got so bad that all the channels just said no signal check back later...and so i got a tech to come out to my apartment. first thing he asked me was if i had ATT as my cell phone provider, and of course i do! he had told me other people have been complaining about pixelation and it was due to ATT running on the same frequency as the HD signal. and of course i cant watch HD channels everytime i get a phone call because it would just freeze up the screen. Since i live in a building i bet theres more than one person in my building with ATT as a cell phone provider which makes things worse...well the tech just swapt the box and said theres nothing much i could do.. all the lines were reciving signal just fine.. its just my cell phone causing the pixelation and freezing the box... So now im just moving on to timewarner cable... sucks but i have no other option....RCN has alot of work to do before going up against timewarner..comcast..etc.

It doesn't make sense that a cellphone signal would interfere with a signal that is running through a coax cable. How is that possible?

Can anyone explain how this would happen? Or is the RCN tech guy blowing smoke?

I doubt it. Doesn't make any sense. If it can happen, we would have heard about it more often.

Re: [CATV] Pixelation of channels - New York

Hi again, just curious if there is any insight from the resident RCN folks as to what could be causing these issues. Is this something that they head alot of folks experiencing or is there some fix coming?
Thanks for the help!
