[Newsgroups] Usenet - 1 file download slow, multiple files FAST

I'm wondering if anyone who has Comcast and Giganews combo notices that one large file download will yield very slow download speeds (900 Kbps) but that multiple concurrent large file downloads yield much faster (6 Mbps) connection?

I spoke with Comcast customer service and of course they had no idea what I was talking about.

Thanks in advance

What reader are you using? Newsbin does this to me sometimes. It's like it forgets what it's doing. Have you tried other readers and gotten the same result? I'm sure comcast isnt the problem. I use UNS and it works full speed no matter what it's doing. Also using newsbin 5.35 (did use 4.7 but it slowed down when downloading headers). I bet it's your reader.

Look in the tweaks area of this website - your TCP RWIN is probably set way too small.
