Receiving mail through regular Yahoo pop3, not att
Legacy Ameritech.net/Chicago pop

On 4/4 I was able to send email fine. Now all of a sudden I can't send mail. I get "530 5.7 Author verification required" error. Is this a glitch that they're having ??? I enabled SSL and had the error "Server does not support SSL"

I don't know what could have changed in a month.
Yahoo! has changed how their SMTP message submission servers handle email. This is purely Yahoo!, and affected Mail Plus customers as well as the ISP co-branded services.

Basically, your Yahoo! Mail Plus account requires you to log in to 'smtp.mail.yahoo.com' (or, maybe they changed you to 'plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com') with your Yahoo! User_ID. If your Yahoo! Mail Plus account is for '%User_ID%@yahoo.com', you can't use any other email address in the "From:" field until you verify it with them per the procedures outlined in this link:

»help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/o···-07.html

Until recently, I could log in to 'smtp.mail.yahoo.com', or 'plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com' with my '@pacbell.net' ID and send through those servers with a regular '@yahoo.com' email address. Everything is being tightened down; you must use the same email address in the "From:" field as is associated with your login ID.

If you decide to add an email address per that link, you can only add up to ten.

As for the SSL error, you have to use SSL ports with the SSL setting. Port 995 for POP3 and port 465 for SMTP.

Thanks. I searched Yahoo for 2 hours with nothing at all related to email accounts showing up in the results. The links were for all of their portal crap. You would think they would send emails to account holders that they changed the way they do things.

They didn't even notify AT&T when they changed things. The "553 Unverified email address" issue caught the AT&T CSRs by surprise.

At this point, I just wish AT&T would scrap the co-branding nonsense. Yahoo! just isn't working out.
