Moving But Don't Know Where Yet...

I am moving from IL to MI next week. I currently have the 6MB service (Elite or whatever they call it these days). But we haven't bought a new place yet; we're staying with inlaws until we've found a new place. So I cannot simply transfer the service to a new address.

My big thing is that I want to keep the same email address. I called to setup the cancel of the service here in IL, and the CSR told me that they don't get rid of the accounts until 60 days after the termination and since I hopefully will have a place by that time, I can have the service turned on for the new address without losing the email address I have.

Truth to this? Any advice for this kind of service "suspension" situation? Thanks.

I would switch to dial up service. It is like $10 a month. That would save your e-mail address and have it ready for when you move to your new place. And if you can not get DSL activated in the new place and have to go to another provider you have time to send out e-mails using your old address to tell people of your new e-mail.

This is what happened to me when I moved and could not get DSL in my new home for 2 years.

The problem is that I will have trouble getting dialup too because, for all intents and purposes, I'm going to be temporarily "homeless". To order dialup, they say you need to give an address. Is this just for billing?

The first move is from IL to MI (60187 to 49423), where I am temporarily staying with the inlaws. The second move will be within MI, from one zip code to another, but it is the same town. (49423 to 49424). The temporary time with the inlaws will probably be 45-60 days.

LOL you get dial up service to keep your e-mail address instead of cxl your account. You don't have to use it. You are paying the $10 a month to keep your e-mail until you are ready to get DSL again. Address is for billing only. You already have dail up service included with your DSL for free. So cxl DSL and keep the dial up. Or just cxl and get a new e-mail.

That is why I never use ISP e-mails as my main one. I use Yahoo and G-mail.
