The blocking of both are equally egregious, but don't kid yourself. American ISPs are blocking/throttling a hell of a lot more than just P2P. P2P is the start of the battle for who gets to be the gatekeeper/toll attendant. |

I usually download from popular trackers at full speed from my 2mbps cable line. (at 252 kB/s)
And unlike China our government doesnt apply any censorship at all either. We are as free as we can get. |

1 edit | reply to Omega Personally, I think Bittorent is mostly used for illegal means. However, I still think with that said, the user should be the one to make the decision versus the ISP. I mean you are allowed to go out and buy a knife in the U.S. Most people will use this knife to cut things. However, there will always be a few who use said knife to commit crimes such as murder. Does that mean knives should be outlawed in the U.S.? While this is a big comparison, it's true to this circumstance. People should be given the freedom to do as they wish. If they make the wrong choice, they should be the only one to blame. When isps decide to play bad cop, they put themselves in harms way for lawsuits and FCC investigation as we see. |

Not with this FCC and the lawsuits probably wouldn't go far, either. But your points are correct. -- "Regulatory capitalism is when companies invest in lawyers, lobbyists, and politicians, instead of plant, people, and customer service." - former FCC Chairman William Kennard (A real FCC Chairman, unlike the current Corporate Spokesperson in the job!) |

 | reply to David_ Sorry our gov is NO different than others... you only think you have freedoms in the US... sadly this isn't totally true.
