Even if the email is listed on another person's account -- If you have changed the password before, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have been able to login to read your emails. That said, I'm willing to bet neither of you can access it now. |

@mchsi.com | I called before to tech support to reset my password(apparantley now they don't do that)but whose to say she's not already done that? And How much are you willing to bet? I bet you you're wrong. |

| See the amount of help i'm getting here?? It's exactly the same amount as to when i use the phone to call tech support at Mediacom. At least here i'm not put on hold for at least 30 mins, or get hung up on, or being cold transfer to someone else.
And of all the techies that i have seen logged on here..not one creative suggestion or assistance to rectify this problem.

| Patience....not every tech on here reads this every day. They do have jobs and generally work during the day. You have barely given it three hours...and it probably isn't helpful to complain about those who take the extra time and effort to help customers during their off time. The techs on here have been very helpful to me on occasion but it does take some time. |

| reply to Digruntled1 I can understand that you are disgruntled. I don't think you will get much help on this because if what you say is true then this is a situation that Mediacom does not have a standard answer for since this was not standard procedure. Something broke down for the situation to come about and there is no stock answer or solution.
I don't mean to trivialize your situation but your privacy and security with your email is probably no more compromised than mine. The email service provided through Mediacom is not private nor secure in the strict sense. Any unscrupulous provider along the path that email travels could read and keep all of your emails. Banks and health care providers don't use email to communicate with individuals about their accounts or records.
I thought I remember reading about a similar situation in this forum a long time ago. I don't know what the resolution was.
My suggestion would be to use a new email address and move on. I wouldn't like it if I was told this since I have my MCHSI email address tied to many, many other online accounts. I have about 5 notebook pages of online accounts that would need to be changed if I change my MCHSI email address as well as notifying hundreds of contacts in my address book. -- Save water...drink beer! |

@mchsi.com | reply to Iowa VIP barely 3 hours for today ..yes..but this has been ongoing. If in fact someone else has access to my personal information out there, every second counts! Why would I expect you to care when Mediacom doesn't? |

Why would I expect you to care when Mediacom doesn't? I understand that MediaCom hasn't handled the situation in a timely manner. I would be upset also. But, you posted for help three hours ago on a message board that has no official tie to the company. I think your expectations for getting help on here in such are short time frame are a little too high. You should expect quick and competant service from MediaCom but you are going to just have to be more patient when posting on a message board! |

Did you know there are sites out there where should u have to update your email address the only way for it to happen is for them to send a confirmation code/link to your OLD Email address?
well..i better get back to it so i can at least get halfway of this mess that Mediacom has created. |

| Vice presidents are a better target. As a side note, since you are not a registered user, any techs who do log in here are not going to be able to contact you directly. Since they cannot contact you directly, they will be unable to help with your specific issue (since that would require getting your account information from you, and you are not allowed to post your account information in the open forum). In other words, please set up a registered account here so you can be contacted directly through the site. -- ISCABBS - the oldest and largest BBS on the Internet telnet://bbs.iscabbs.com Professional Geographer Geographic Information Science researcher |

| Don't ever use a service providers email address directly.
I use a hotmail account and also pay ~$20/year for a email forwarding service so I can change internet providers or email address without updating all my internet accounts.
I have had my email address with this cable company change 3 times since I have had it.
user@trispeed.net , user@home.com , user@mchsi.com
So even without changing internet provider companies, I have had 3 email addresses.
Now that google and hotmail give you email boxes > 1Gig for free why use mediacom's email? MS new live mail client works great. |
