Actually I have tried resetting the modem. I did all this when the tech was present. I haven't tried to boot into safe mode with networking because the nic doesn't even try to get an address. The modem shows no link and windows shows that a network cable is unplugged. So its not even registering that a network cable is plugged in. This happened with the on-board nic and a PCI nic. I am at a loss. |

| If you have another network device, like a switch or router, try plugging the Dell into that. If the Dell still says "Network Cable Unplugged" then your onboard NIC may be bad. Try picking up a NIC for a few bucks at Circuit City and see if that fixes you up. |

Completely remove the backup battery from the Arris and disconnect it from the A.C. power source and turn the computer off.
Wait a few minutes, then plug the Arris back in and let it fully sync. Now power up the computer.
Any joy ?
Sometimes there are issues with the proper functioning of the reset buttons with the Arris telephony modems.
You should get a router so that you don't have to worry about powercycling the modem each and every time that you want to change the device that is being directly connected to it. |

Bought a PCI NIC card and the same thing happened. |

This was done when the tech was here. We unplugged the modem and took out the battery. No Dice. Still cable unplugged. |
