using ADSL what else do i need?

Hello,

We plan on starting up using ADSL with static ip's...

What should i be using between the adsl modem and the AP's for shaping, etc?

I have little networking/tcpip knowledge!

Thanks

The best way is to shape it on the customers CPE and then back at the NOC again by using M0n0wall or some other form of traffic shaping/throttling. While M0n0wall works fairly well, it has a little bit of a learning curve. I do not think it works as well as some of the other paid options out there like NetEqualizer, but something is better than nothing.

I started with one ADSL line as well, I used Mikrotik, I don't really know why I used it, but I know it now and wouldn't switch, I don't feel to learn another router/device.

Mikrotik has a heavy learning curve though, and not entirely recommended unless you have good understanding of networking to start with, or lots of time to learn.

The learning curve for NetEqualizer is pretty minimal. Fairly easy fix to the problem.

i would vote mikrotik, but like someone mentioned you need to have some knowledge of ip networking or be a fast learner.
