I asked that it not be the same one, I hope they give a separate box for modem and router but I have a feeling it'll just be another gateway, hopefully it'll be fixed though.

ignorant : Most of the Router/Modem combos have that problem. You're better of getting just a modem from TWC and buying you own router (plus you'll save $5 a month).

sryinex : I have the above router/modem from Netgear that RR gave this house when they first installed. For basic usage it's fine, however for gaming it is horrid. When I open up steam and search for servers, all the servers are shown with very high pings and in fact if I try to search for multiple servers for more than a second the gateway just resets itself. Say I have some 5 odd favorite servers saved, if I refresh all of them at once the pings will come out obscure. For example, local Los Angeles server where once I'm in I ping 20, it'll show 150 or something when refreshing. I have some modem logs here...

Time Not Established Critical (3) DHCP WARNING - Non-critical field invalid in response.
Wed May 07 18:21:14 2008  	 Critical (3) 	 No UCD's Received - Timeout
Wed May 07 17:58:54 2008 Critical (3) Received Response to Broadcast Maintenance Request, But no Un...
Wed May 07 17:58:24 2008 Critical (3) DHCP WARNING - Non-critical field invalid in response.
Wed May 07 17:56:34 2008 Critical (3) Received Response to Broadcast Maintenance Request, But no Un...
Wed May 07 17:16:43 2008 Critical (3) DHCP WARNING - Non-critical field invalid in response.
Wed May 07 18:19:58 2008 Critical (3) SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/Q...
Wed May 07 17:01:20 2008 Critical (3) Received Response to Broadcast Maintenance Request, But no Un...
Wed May 07 18:19:34 2008 Critical (3) SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire FEC f...
Time Not Established Critical (3) DHCP WARNING - Non-critical field invalid in response.
Tue May 06 01:29:35 2008 Critical (3) REG RSP not received
Time Not Established Critical (3) DHCP WARNING - Non-critical field invalid in response.
Time Not Established Critical (3) No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out

These happen every time I search servers and the modem resets itself. This is unacceptable, I've had many other ISP's and locations where it would not do this. I just want to be able to ping multiple locations without having my connection drop or show inaccurate data. This is not too much to ask.

Here is a tracert to a local Los angeles server

C:\Users\sryinex>tracert 72.37.147.100

Tracing route to la12.aim2game.com [72.37.147.100]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1    24 ms     9 ms     8 ms  cpe-75-80-0-1.socal.res.rr.com [75.80.0.1]
2    23 ms    31 ms    11 ms  GIG12-2.CHSWCA1-GSR1.socal.rr.com [24.24.193.65]

3    17 ms    43 ms    19 ms  ge-4-3-0.tustca1-rtr1.socal.rr.com [66.75.145.13
]
4    17 ms    20 ms    19 ms  ge-6-1-129.hsa1.Tustin1.Level3.net [4.79.140.37]

5    24 ms    24 ms    27 ms  ae-2-3.bar1.Tustin1.Level3.net [4.69.132.218]
6    27 ms    35 ms    22 ms  ae-6-6.ebr1.LosAngeles1.Level3.net [4.69.136.202
]
7    29 ms    20 ms    32 ms  ae-71-71.csw2.LosAngeles1.Level3.net [4.69.137.6
]
8    34 ms    28 ms    24 ms  ae-2-79.edge3.LosAngeles1.Level3.net [4.68.20.73
]
9    30 ms    31 ms    22 ms  xe2-0.cr01.lax01.mzima.net [4.71.136.2]
10    25 ms    22 ms    30 ms  xe1-0.cr01.lax02.mzima.net [64.235.224.182]
11    19 ms    34 ms    22 ms  ge0-2.cr01.lax04.mzima.net [216.193.255.230]
12    20 ms    24 ms    26 ms  la12.aim2game.com [72.37.147.100]

And my signal levels from my gateway:

Downstream: 7.2
Upstream: 36.3

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
