How do I get my new Mac to see my digital camera when I plug it into the USB port? When I plug it in, I get nothing, zip, zero.

Plug it into Windows, and it sees the camera and installs whatever is needed. It assigns a drive letter and I can navigate to its folder, and get the pics.

I did have to install Windows drivers from Canon before hand but Canon says I don't need to install anything on the Mac. I can't figure out why I can't get it to work.

( Are you guys sick of all my questions yet????? )

Launch iPhoto when you plug in your camera, I never needed to install anything for any of my cameras.
Additionally - launch system profiler and see if your camera is listed under USB if iPhoto doesn't work.

Or, if you don't want to use iPhoto you can just download the photos with Image Capture. It should be in your Applications folder, at least it is in Tiger.

Canon, is strange. They mount the cams as drives in Windows but not in Mac. I don't know why. My Pentax DSLR mounts as a drive on my Mac.

I'm not sick of your questions, if it helps.

Regards,
Mike

Or if you don't want to download them into iphoto, just launch Image Capture and you can download them wherever you want.

Thanks for that.

All options would have worked. (And do) Prior to my post, I had nothing. Now there are at least a few different ways to get my camera pictures.

Install Photostitch. It is a neat program.
