Doom 3 lasted a whopping hour for me, surprised it even lasted that long before I uninstalled it.

Doom 3 was so disapointing. I loved the first two Dooms and I dug the atmosphere in Doom 3 but having monsters pop out of thin air right behind you was just stupid and an indication of lazy design. I think they spent all their time on the engine and very little on the gameplay. I won't be spending any money on Doom 4 unless it gets outstanding reviews.

I could even look past the monsters "porting" in behind you since they are demons, what I don't like is monster closets. Doom1-2 had these things too, but this was back in 1993 so I will cut them some slack.

But that's ALL that doom 3 had.

There was no looking ahead and planning strategy.

It's very lazy to have a world devoid of enemies until you cross point x.

I hope there is more monsters to blast and possibly dismember/decapitate/bisect monsters with weapons like you can in Painkiller.

And gibs! We need gibs, both (more) human and monster gibs!

I thought Doom 3 was great. Fast, impressive graphics, and most importantly a very finely polished single-player game.. I mean the pace was perfect from beginning to end. That was the most surprising thing to me - who would have believed id would or could make such a good single-player game?

The darkness? Yeah it got a lot of criticism for the crappy little flashlight and constant pitch-black - monsters jump out of the dark at you - environment, but that was precisely what they aimed to do.. I used to play original Doom until my eyes bleed and Doom 3 was 100% faithful to the style of the old games... I was actually grateful for that. A modern update of a classic.

-shoulder mount flash light that gives off more lumens then a candle

the darkness was my gripe, im sorry but in the distant future where we can make a weapon like a BFG9000. i found it hard to imagine every gun wouldnt have a tactical light. or hell that space marine combat gear wouldn't have something that could light up a room like daylight.
