If you have dark rooms put a flashlight on the guns.

I mean that's obviously DX10 which my card does, but holy sh*t look at that texture detail! Who knows. That screenshot was taken in the alpha stage of production -- Anime / F@H

| Doom 3 was so disapointing. I loved the first two Dooms and I dug the atmosphere in Doom 3 but having monsters pop out of thin air right behind you was just stupid and an indication of lazy design. I think they spent all their time on the engine and very little on the gameplay. I won't be spending any money on Doom 4 unless it gets outstanding reviews. -- What's certain about Darwinism is that it would take less time for (1) a single-celled organism to evolve into a human being through mutation and natural selection than for (2) Darwinists to admit they have no proof of (1) - Ann Coulter | |

There was no looking ahead and planning strategy.

| I thought Doom 3 was great. Fast, impressive graphics, and most importantly a very finely polished single-player game.. I mean the pace was perfect from beginning to end. That was the most surprising thing to me - who would have believed id would or could make such a good single-player game?
The darkness? Yeah it got a lot of criticism for the crappy little flashlight and constant pitch-black - monsters jump out of the dark at you - environment, but that was precisely what they aimed to do.. I used to play original Doom until my eyes bleed and Doom 3 was 100% faithful to the style of the old games... I was actually grateful for that. A modern update of a classic.

| the darkness was my gripe, im sorry but in the distant future where we can make a weapon like a BFG9000. i found it hard to imagine every gun wouldnt have a tactical light. or hell that space marine combat gear wouldn't have something that could light up a room like daylight. -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports | |

Some of to days guns have a slot for a flash light in them so why not have one in doom 4?
Doom 1 and 2 had some dark areas but not as bad as there where in doom 3.

| Unlike the majority of the posters in this thread, I can certainly say I'm very excited for Doom 4.
I enjoyed Doom 3 throughout. I think ID did a great job with the whole feel and atmosphere of the game. I absolutely loved the theme. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. I had a blast playing through Doom 3.
Doom 3 was also one of the scariest games I've ever played, might I add. -- QUAD!!!!

Apparently you can't sense the humorous tone we're taking on this matter. Doom 3 was a good game but very well known for its darkness. I still liked playing F.E.A.R over it though.
I want to play Doom 4 as well! -- Anime / F@H
