 80 gig video iPod trouble

i just ordered a new battery for an 80 gig video iPod and it works fine but when i turn it on it tells me to connect it to my computer so i can restore it.

so when i do that i go through the restoration process but at the end an error comes up saying it's corrupted.. i don't know what i should do
