If you have one of the older Westell Gateways, I believe that you need to log into the modem's setup utility with the IP address of 192.168.1.1 . In there, you should see at the top if you go through the nav the wireless settings, click that, and enter in the username and password for the modem. After, change your wireless settings in there to not use anything like WEP, save, and let the router reboot if neede, then reconnect using the machine with the wireless with no encryption, and see if it still acts up.
If you have one of the newer Verizon branded Westell gateways, then there are some tutorials around this site to shut off the networking, as I'm not familiar with the Verizon branded ones.
Vista is known to be a bit flaky with WEP and WPA encryption with some cards, so this is why we should try turning off encryption on the router first to see if this resolves the issue. |
