| SB5100 died
The SB5100 I had at work on the 8/1 service for 3 years croaked. The ethernet just burned out. I went to a Rogers store, and got a replacement, but is a Scientific Atlanta DPC-2100R2 because they had no Motorolas in stock. I remember they used to be terrible a few years ago with a number of issues.
Have these gotten better, I assume this is being an "R2" its a second version, hopefully improved? It seems to work ok, speedtests are fine also.

| Hey, I can access this one's status page even when it's connected. The SB5100's status page would only show before it acquired signal.
Are these numbers decent? -- GOLF LEAFS GOLF! |

The SB5100 we had here lasted almost 3 years. I looked at the original work order for the install and it was May 30, 2005. -- GOLF LEAFS GOLF! |

| reply to HiVolt I have Scientific Atlanta DPC 2100 R2 for about 1.5 years now. I think it is a very sturdy and heavy-duty modem. Even though it doesn't look as attractive as Motorola, it has very thick plastic and manages heat no problemo. Since I replaced my cable to RG6 - no sync loss, unless there is maintenance on the line (Rogers van on the bottom of my building). I like this modem a lot.
I know everybody here likes motorolas, but hey, popularity is not the key. I recently helped someone with their DSL line and they had SpeedTouch 516 V6 - the one everybody praises in Teksavvy forum. The plastic there is very thin (my modem is like a tank compared to it) and the heat generated almost melts it. The guy is afraid to leave it ON all the time, so he turns it ON and OFF when he needs it. My SA is on 24/7/365 and is barely warm.
BTW, those top buttons Signal, Status and Log are locked, but when the modem loses sync it opens them up, so you can check the log and what exactly is lost (in my case it is usually upstream). |

| said by sbrook :the problematic webstar was the DPX2100 if memory serves Ah, you're right... The model was similar enough to have me worry. I remember some friends having those with lots of issues, especially when uploading larger files or seeding torrents, they would reboot themselves constantly. -- GOLF LEAFS GOLF! |

| reply to HiVolt I had the Doc1.1 Toshiba PCX2500 modem... the thing stopped working today, all morning the cable link was just flashing rapidly no matter what I did.
Within 5 mins a replacement was in (live close to a store) -got a SA DPC2100R2
Everything looks good, I originally got the replacement notice early December so I guess they are phasing out the old stuff |

@rogers.com | yes, you're right - DOCSIS 1.1 is about to reried by end of Jun ( if I remember well). Your Toshiba modem and Terayon TJ615 I would concern as worst ever made modems.
