<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/1172979"><b>Wolfie00</b></A> : There was a time when McDonald's seemed to be going out of their way to make exceptionally good coffee, and an Egg McMuffin and one of those coffees was actually worth getting, as opposed to the garbage they serve up later in the day.  But it seems to gone the way of other good things that vanish with time.<br><br>And Timmy's coffee is pretty bland too.  My solution to coffee these days is one of the nice dark-roast blends from Pusateri's which I grind myself and make every day in a Melitta coffee maker. By no means, though, do I assume that it was because she is a woman that she was such a terrible boss. Frankly, I think she was just a mean person (and that crosses all gender and cultural boundaries). Don't even get me started. :)<br> </div>Actually, and this is only my theory more or less off the top of my head, what I've found is that women who get ahead in the corporate world (i.e., in those domains traditionally "ruled" by men) tend to have qualities and characteristics (for better or for worse) that are more masculine. So I wouldn't say that they're trying to prove that they're strong, I'd say that they're just acting like men and, in my opinion, that doesn't come off well for a woman. A man acting in exactly the same way would receive different treatment because society attributes different levels of tolerance to behaviour based on the gender displaying it.<br><br>I'm not suggesting that men can't be assholes, or that a woman with masculine, behavioural characteristics is automatically a jerk. Have some self control.  I'm sure a lot of pointing babies/kids come through there everyday who want a free timbit.  What if the parent doesn't want to be the asshole and say no to you in front of their kid?  The next time a cold person comes in, is it a free soup for them?  And if you've been working there for 3 years, it's should be pretty clear how your bosses feel about giving away free stuff.]]></description>

The only reason the sizes went down was because the bakers in store weren't following company policy. ;)<br><br>All coffee cup sizes have stayed the same ever since I started working there.<br> </div>I know that muffin size is getting smaller. The packaging for the soup may look smaller since they redesigned it, but it holds the same amount that it used to hold.<br><br>The tea biscuits may have changed size when they went frozen, but again, that was because individual bakers/stores were making the product larger than they were supposed to be.<br><br>I'm not a Tim Hortons fanboy by any means and try to avoid the place like the plague myself, but if you're going to criticize them you should at least use a valid argument.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/953970"><b>wkendhippie</b></A> : Woman fired for giving baby a free Timbit<br><br>JENNIFER O'BRIEN<br><br>The Canadian Press<br><br>May 7, 2008 at 10:49 PM EDT<br><br>LONDON, Ont. &#151; &#151; Giving a free Timbit to a baby has cost a single mother of four her job.<br><br>Nicole Lilliman, 27, was fired Wednesday from her Tim Hortons job in this southwestern Ontario city for giving one of the 16-cent blobs of fried dough to a tot who came in with a regular customer.<br><br>&#147;I have been fired for giving a baby a Timbit,&#148; Ms. Lilliman said Wednesday.<br><br>&#147;It was just out of my heart &#151; she was pointing and going &#145;ah, ah. . .' I should have gone to my purse and got the change, but it was busy.&#148;<br><br>Ms. Lilliman, who has worked at the store for three years, said she thought little of the incident since Timbits are often doled out to dogs and children.<br><br>She said the baby was about 11 months old, and she gave her the treat to quiet her, since her mother &#150; a Tims' regular &#150; had been &#147;having a bad day.&#148;<br><br>&#147;I could see [the dismissal] if it was a sandwich or something,&#148; she said. &#147;But it was a Timbit.&#148;<br><br>She'd forgotten about the Monday-morning incident until she was called into the office Wednesday.<br><br>Three managers greeted her, saying she had been caught on video, giving free food to a child.<br><br>&#147;They said, &#145;Remember, Monday you gave out a free Timbit,' &#148; she said. &#147;I had to think, then I was like, &#145;Oh yeah,' and I smiled because I thought I'd get a warning.&#148;<br><br>Instead, she was fired for theft.<br><br>Giving food away free is against the rules, said Tim Hortons district manager Nicole Mitchell.<br><br>&#147;Employees aren't allowed to give out free products and that's the bottom line,&#148; she said. &#147;She gave out free product and it doesn't matter if it is a Timbit or a coffee or a doughnut or 10 sandwiches or what.&#148;<br><br>The Timbits given to pets, Ms. Mitchell added, are usually &#147;day-old and recycled.&#148;]]></description>
