[FL] Gainesville "Service" or lack thereof

I better post quick, because service in Gainesville is ridiculously unreliable. For the past 3 weeks, Internet and phone service have been going off and on for varying durations (4 hours today) every day. Both the phone and the cable modem are disconnected. I call tech support and of course the national/centralflorida people simply say there is nothing wrong locally, waste my time making me unplug the modem, blah, blah, then schedule someone to come out. The service guy comes out and says, "yeah, we're doing some work around here and it shouldn't last more than 2 or 3 days." Meanwhile, 3 weeks into this, I can't work from home, my wife can't do her thing, and I'm ready to give up.

BTW, it's not just me. I've talked to several others spread across Gainesville, and they're all having the same problems. They assumed the problem was with their own networks, not Cox's. Anyone here having the same?

I'd like to go stand in front of the local office with a picket warning people! I'm ready to switch to DSL or Satellite ASAP!

If you could register and send me a PM with your modem MAC address I can look into it.
